PhD Studentship in Organic Chemistry and Catalysis – Le Havre University, France

A fully funded 36-month PhD position is now open at Université Le Havre Normandie (URCOM laboratory), starting in October 2025 and funded by Région Normandie.

Project Title:

Catalytic Transformation of Polyols Derived from Sugars for the Synthesis of Iminosugars

Research Focus:

The project targets the development of green catalytic cascade processes to convert sugar-derived polyols into highly valuable iminosugars, using transition metal catalysis. These innovative methods aim to reduce reliance on protecting groups, enhancing both atom economy and sustainability in synthetic chemistry.

Applicant Profile:

  • Must hold (or be finishing) a Master’s degree (Master 2, MSc, or MChem) in Chemistry or a related field
  • Solid knowledge in Organic Chemistry techniques
  • Background in organometallic chemistry is a plus
  • Eagerness to work on a multidisciplinary and green chemistry project

Location:

URCOM Laboratory, Université Le Havre Normandie, Le Havre (76), France

Keywords: Iminosugar, sugar chemistry, catalysis, green chemistry, biomass upgrading
