PhD Opportunity – Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network at UKSH, Germany

The University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) is offering a fully funded PhD position as part of the Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network PROMOTE (PRostate cancer OMics Oriented inTErvention). This international research network aims to develop personalized interventions for prostate cancer using advanced omics technologies and machine learning.

Position Overview:

  • Title: PhD position in definition of clinically relevant endpoints and pathway verification in prostate cancer

  • Location: UKSH, Lübeck, Germany

  • Awarding Institution: Universität zu Lübeck

  • Project Title: Definition of clinically relevant endpoints and verification of key pathway components at human PCa tissue

  • Duration: 36 months, full-time

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

  • Funding: Horizon Europe MSCA (Grant No. 101169245)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a data management platform

  • Define clinically relevant endpoints for both primary and metastatic prostate cancer

  • Verify key pathway components in human tissue samples

  • Perform biomarker validation using immunohistochemistry

  • Collaborate with clinical and non-academic partners including MOSAIQUES Diagnostics and KRESK

  • Participate in PROMOTE’s network-wide training activities and secondments

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, computer science, statistics, or related disciplines

  • No previous PhD degree

  • Must not have resided in Germany for more than 12 months in the last 3 years (MSCA mobility rule)

  • Strong English proficiency (written and spoken)

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with immunohistochemistry techniques

  • Background in programming (R), data management, or statistical analysis

  • Demonstrated research motivation and teamwork skills
