PhD Opportunity – Wireless Sensing for Smarter Networks
Location: LIX, École Polytechnique, France
Start Date: October 2025
Duration: 3 years
Supervisors: Prof. Thomas Clausen & Dr. Kevin Jiokeng
This fully funded PhD focuses on the use of wireless sensing to enhance both user services and core communication performance in wireless networks. The project combines networking, AI/ML, and signal processing to develop intelligent systems capable of tracking user activity, health, biometrics, and environmental conditions—while also improving network performance.
Key Research Tasks:
- Collect and analyze data from wireless testbeds
- Design AI-powered sensing systems and protocols
- Develop real-world prototypes on hardware platforms
- Publish in top-tier conferences (e.g., IEEE INFOCOM, ACM MobiSys)
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Telecommunications
- Solid programming skills (C++, Python, Java, etc.)
- Experience in Machine/Deep Learning (e.g., Autoencoders, Transformers)
- Familiarity with network protocols
- Motivated and eager to solve challenging research problems
