PhD Opportunity in Ceramic Materials Science and Engineering
Location: École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Montreal, Canada
Start Date: Fall 2025 or Winter 2026
Duration: 3 years
Join an interdisciplinary project focused on advancing ceramic-glass technologies, particularly ZnO-containing oxides, combining materials science, engineering, health sciences, and the arts. The research aims to blend traditional ceramic craftsmanship with cutting-edge thermodynamic modeling and experimental techniques.
Research Topics Include:
- High-temperature inorganic thermochemistry
- Thermodynamic modeling
- Glass-ceramics fabrication
- Machine learning in materials science
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Proficiency in English
Preferred:
- Experience with thermodynamics databases, high-temp experiments, Python, and ML techniques
Funding: Fully funded through NOVA-FRQNT-NSERC (3 years)
