PhD Opportunity in Molecular Virology & Proteomics
Location: University of Milan, Italy
Start Date: October/November 2025
Duration: 3 years
Funding: Italian Science Fund
Dr. Guido Papa’s lab at the University of Milan is recruiting a motivated PhD student to explore how viruses assemble replication factories using biomolecular condensates, focusing on Respiratory Syncytial Virus. The research combines molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9, proteomics, and advanced microscopy to understand viral mechanisms at the molecular level.
Research Focus:
- Viral replication and protein degradation
- Proteome characterization of intracellular compartments
- High-throughput data generation and CRISPR KO analysis
- Drug discovery via novel degradation strategies
Ideal Background:
- BSc or MSc in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields
- Hands-on experience in cell culture, microscopy, and molecular techniques
- Familiarity with proteomics and CRISPR tools
